Expanding the article

[edit]

I've recently started on Wikipedia and was a little surprised that such an important match had such a small article. To try to rectify this, I'm planning on expanding this article quite a bit over the next few weeks - my current plan goes something along the lines of:

  • Background (in particular the 1984 match and its aftermath)
  • The competitors - a little about each of the two Ks at that time
  • The games - possibly split into sections to show how the momentum swung, and including an annotated Game 16
  • Non-chess stuff (possibly interwoven into the games depending on how that works)
  • Coverage of the match
  • Impact of the match (eg on opening theory)

Anyone got any thoughts on what else to include? Or any really good source material on the match? Fletch79 (talk) 21:32, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Great initiative! Many of the WCC's are in need of expansion, and I very much hope you find time to do the expansion. If you have questions, you can always ask at the Wikiproject chess talk page (link on top of this page). Regards, Voorlandt (talk) 22:29, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Expansion finished for now! There is some more work needed, but hopefully this is a reasonable start. Fletch79 (talk) 22:16, 1 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Your way to humble. The additions are brillant! SunCreator (talk) 22:18, 1 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks - and thanks for reading! I'd like to find some more sources - I've mostly been reading Kasparov but trying to keep an eye open for opposing views...Fletch79 (talk) 22:22, 1 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Should Bobby Fischer's pre-arrangement opinion be omitted?

[edit]

I mean it wasn't omitted for the 1962 candidates... Thewriter006 (talk) 21:37, 22 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
